In addition to being one of the best beaches in California for families, La Jolla Shores Beach is my favorite beach in San Diego. Yes, I live near La Jolla, but this beautiful sandy beach offers dedicated swimming and surfing areas, water sports, a tiny playground, and very clean (for a beach) restrooms and showers.

Encircling Coronado Central Beach are 1.5 miles of magnificent shoreline with enough of sand to spread out your towel and the magnificent Hotel del Coronado. The sands have a distinctive gold sheen due to mica deposits over time, making them ideal for your upcoming sandcastle construction competition.

Everyone can find something to enjoy at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, whether their sights are set on the ocean or you just want to take the kids to the grassy park and play area. Hotel concierges in North County San Diego love it, and lifeguards are on duty all year round at the beach.

Silver Strand State Beach is one of the nicest family beaches in San Diego and the beach that guests of the Loews Coronado Bay Resort utilize. It has beaches on both the Pacific Ocean and San Diego Bay, as well as four large paid parking lots.

This glittering section of the shore is overlooked by Powerhouse Park, which also has plenty of picnic spaces, eateries, and retail establishments. The tall lifeguard building has public restrooms, and additional public amenities are located nearer the park.
Del Mar City Beach
Enjoy a stroll around Torrey Pines State Beach's shoreline and let yourself become lost in the deep red tones of the bluffs. It's situated between Del Mar and La Jolla, close to Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve, a well-liked destination for family treks.

La Jolla sea lions love to sunbathe in La Jolla Cove and can frequently be seen on the bluffs close to the boardwalk or reclining in the sand a little distance from the stairway. Remember to respect their personal space by avoiding using flash photography and taking in the beauty of nature from a distance.

South Ponto Beach, a lovely beach in a largely undeveloped portion of Carlsbad, with some dunes that give the beach a more remote atmosphere. You won't want to miss the sunset over South Ponto, so find a free parking space near the beach's southernmost point and take in the shoreline's natural artwork.
